Advent Evening Services – all at 5 p.m. in the Cathedral

The Cathedral will be hosting a number of special services for Advent and Christmas over the coming weeks. These services will also be live-streamed on our Facebook page. Whether you are joining us at home via our livestream channel or in the Cathedral, we hope you enjoy joining in worship with us.

Sunday, 5 December: Advent Taizé Service

A quiet, reflective, deeply peaceful and joyful service, focussing on the theme of the Advent – coming – of Christ. It includes simple songs and chants in many languages which are sung many times over, as a prayer and meditation of the heart.

Sunday, 12 December: Advent Devotional Service.

Another meditative service incorporating ancient songs, chants and well-known hymns around the theme of Advent.

Sunday, 19 December: A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.

The service of lessons and carols has become a traditional service celebrated by many Churches, but its origin goes back just over 100 years, and is proudly Anglican. We listen to carols and read Holy Scripture as we recount and recall the wonderful story leading up to the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and his life among us.
