Symphony Concert 25 September 2022

Rhodes University Orchestra in collaboration with Nelson Mandela University Symphony Orchestra will
perform a Symphony Concert on Sunday 25 September 2022 in the Guy Butler Hall, Settlers Monument.
The programme presents the premiere of a new composition Moments for Orchestra composed by the
young South African composer Artur Feder. The new symphonic work was composed specifically for the
concert, and features local Uhadi player Zanethemba Mdyogolo. Two other local soloists Bayanda
Mthetho (piano) and Ben Terry (cello) will each perform a movement of a concerto by Beethoven and
Elgar respectively. NMU soprano Lindokuhle Gushu will perform two arias by Mozart and Catalini. In
addition, the collaborative orchestra will perform the well known Hebrides Overture (Mendelssohn) and
the Finale from the New World Symphony (Dvorak).
